Paul McCartney has revealed that he is still confused by "much of that influencer world" he sees online and doesn't understand why it is so popular.
The 83-year-old musician and star of The Beatles is currently preparing to release a new solo album called "The Boys Of Dungeon Lane" later this month - a very personal release that takes him back to his upbringing in Liverpool.
In a new interview with The Rest is Entertainment, he was asked what he thought about contemporary trends and the rise of influencer culture dominating social media, and he replied that he doesn't understand why there's such a fuss about it.
"I think a lot of that influencer world... I just don't understand it because I'm not from that generation. But you can't avoid it. My wife is looking at Instagram and she shows me something, and then one of those videos comes up. I think it's funny - and I guess it's always been that way - but people who don't seem particularly talented become incredibly famous. Billions of views and clicks," he said.
McCartney then joked that he had to "be careful what he said" because he knew it made him sound "very old-fashioned... which it is."
