Actress Hayden Panettiere claims in her memoir that an Oscar-winning director "inappropriately exposed himself" to her when she was 19.
The "Nashville" actress, now 36, describes in her recently published memoir, "This Is Me: A Reckoning," a shocking incident that occurred after a friend invited her to an "industrial" party at her Los Feliz, California, apartment.
She states that the only people at the party were her, her friend, and "a small group of men who were talking, drinking, and smoking marijuana together," and she recalls feeling immediately uncomfortable.
"These men seemed too casual with each other, as if they knew something I didn't," she writes.
She goes on to describe how, after half an hour, she was about to say goodbye to her friend when the Oscar winner approached her. He wished her good night and warned her to be careful when she went out because “someone had spit out some gum somewhere and it had stuck to his pants,” and then allegedly told her to look down.
"I looked down and was horrified. This respected, award-winning actor had his testicles hanging out of his unbuttoned shirt," she wrote.
"Men in Hollywood have always been kind and respectful to me. There may have been a few kisses on the mouth and inappropriate comments, but nothing crossed the line," the actress adds.
She adds that the incident "didn't hurt her" but left her "in shock."
Elsewhere in the book, the "Bring It On" star also discusses her physically abusive relationship with ex-partner Brian Hickerson, which was marked by numerous incidents of domestic violence and arrests.
Panettiere also opens up about her relationship with her "Heroes" co-star, Miley Ventimiglia, whom she dated when she was 18 and he was 29; reveals that she is bisexual; and writes about her complicated relationship with her estranged mother, Leslie Vogel.
Vogel, who also served as her daughter's manager, hit back at Panettiere's claims during her promotional tour, telling Page Six exclusively that she believes "the current drama is partly there to sell books."
