Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater have broken up

Singer and actress Ariana Grande has just kicked off her "Eternal Sunshine" tour, and according to media reports, she embarked on the tour as a single woman.

TMZ and People report that the "Thank U, Next" singer ended her three-year relationship with her "Wicked" co-star Ethan Slater a few months ago.

TMZ reports that Slater did not attend her tour opening on Saturday in Oakland, but a source close to the former couple told People magazine that there is no bad relationship between them.

"The breakup was amicable. They both took a lot of time and carefully considered their decision before going their separate ways. They remain friends and supportive of each other. They quietly broke up a few months ago," the source said.

The same source stressed that the 32-year-old singer is "doing great" despite the circumstances.

The couple was first publicly linked in July 2023, shortly after Grande announced her divorce from her husband, real estate agent Dalton Gomez, to whom she had been married for two years. Their divorce was officially finalized in March 2024.

At the time he met Ariana Grande, Slater was married to therapist Lily J., with whom he has a son. Their divorce was finalized in September 2024.

A month later, in an interview with GQ, Slater admitted that falling in love with Grande under the watchful eye of the public was "really hard."

"It's very difficult when people comment and analyze things from your private life," he said at the time.

Lily Jay also spoke about the difficult period she was going through:

"The days I spend with my son are sunny. The days when I can't avoid promoting a film related to the saddest days of my life are much darker."

Grande admitted in February 2025, in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, that the rumors and comments about her relationship with Slater "will never stop hurting."

"I live with the awareness that I am an artist and that I chose this path myself. That's why I try to protect myself so that I never start to resent the art I do," she said.
