Montenegrin fashion designer Nataša Pejović will present her new collection on Saturday, June 13th, and as she explained in an interview with "Vijesti", its name is "Twenty by the Bay" and this time, which is a novelty for her work, it will also include models for men.
This line will be presented in Luštica, which was Pejović's main inspiration while working on the models.
"The new collection is called 'Twenty by the Bay' and is inspired by Luštica, the place where I have been spending my vacations in recent years. It is the Luštica lifestyle, a combination of nature, sea, simplicity and understated luxury, that shaped the story of this collection," describes the fashion designer.
"Through 20 ready-to-wear models, I followed the journey from morning freshness, through relaxed daytime moments, to elegant evenings by the sea. For the first time, I am also presenting a men's line, which together with women's models creates a rounded story based on natural materials, refined silhouettes and refined elegance," she points out.
"When it comes to materials, I used linen, cotton, silk and georgette - fabrics that provide lightness and comfort during summer days. The color scheme of the collection is inspired by nature and Mediterranean landscapes, so earthy tones dominate: golden beige, warm brown shades, olive green and the inevitable white," adds Pejović.
She also answers the question of how the breakthrough in her work, namely creating models for men, came about.
"The introduction of men's models came quite naturally through the story of the 'Twenty by the Bay' collection. Since the inspiration was the Mediterranean lifestyle and spending time by the sea, I wanted to convey that atmosphere through both the women's and men's lines," the interviewee told "Vijesti".
"Although I have never worked in men's fashion before, this project was an interesting challenge for me. I was inspired by the simplicity of men's clothing, where quality materials, good cuts and carefully selected details are the most important. I wanted to create models that are comfortable, wearable and elegant, and that naturally fit into the story of the entire collection," she says.
Pejović explains how important it is when working on such collections, and how much she herself took care of it when working on it, that the male and female models are connected by a common thread.
“It was very important to me that the male and female models were connected by a common thread, because I wanted the collection to feel like a complete story. Regardless of who the models are intended for, the inspiration is the same - the Mediterranean way of life, the feeling of carefree and relaxed by the sea,” she says, and then describes what the common thread is that connects her creations in the “Twenty by the Bay” collection.
"What connects the male and female models is primarily natural materials, refined silhouettes, and a neutral, earthy color palette. I wanted the collection to look harmonious, so all the models share the same aesthetic, just interpreted in different ways," concludes the fashion designer.
Considering that this time she opted for a ready-to-wear collection, Pejović also reveals whether she is more inspired by such lines or those for special occasions, and what the charm of working on both models is.
"I love both types of design because each one brings its own challenges. Special occasion models give me more room for creativity and detail, while with ready-to-wear collections I am inspired by the possibility of creating clothes that will be part of someone's everyday life and that people will actually wear," she answers.
"This time I naturally opted for a ready-to-wear line, because it best suited the story of the collection and the Mediterranean lifestyle that inspired me. I wanted to create pieces that were comfortable, practical and easy to wear, while maintaining elegance and a recognizable design mark. This is exactly where I see the charm of ready-to-wear fashion - in the combination of aesthetics, comfort and functionality," she described.
And the presentation of the "Twenty by the Bay" collection will not just be a fashion show, but an event that Pejović also worked on organizing.
"This time the event has a special meaning for me, because I was not only in charge of creating the collection, but also of the entire concept of the show. I participated in the organization, from choosing the music to creating the atmosphere, so the audience will have the opportunity to experience the collection exactly as I imagined it," she believes.
"I wanted every segment of the evening to follow the story of the 'Twenty by the Bay' collection and convey the feeling of the Mediterranean lifestyle that inspired me during its creation. From the music and ambiance to the presentation of the models, everything was carefully connected to create a harmonious whole and faithfully reflect the spirit of the collection," said the fashion designer.
