Actor James Franco has opened a TikTok account and posted a series of mysterious videos in which he says "some crazy things" are happening.
The actor was one of the most sought-after Hollywood stars in the 2000s and 2010s thanks to films such as director Sam Raimi's "Spider-Man" trilogy, the comedy "Pineapple Express" and the drama "127 Hours."
However, in 2018, allegations of sexual misconduct were made against him, leading to a lawsuit in 2021 that was later settled out of court. Franko denied all allegations at the time, although he later spoke publicly about the situation.
After that, he largely withdrew from the public eye, ended his longtime friendship with collaborator Seth Rogen, and mostly acted in smaller independent productions.
His last major role in a widely distributed film was in "The Disaster Artist."
Now he has opened a TikTok account and posted his first video in which he wears a blue T-shirt with the words "Bruce Robinson".
"Hey guys, this is James Franco. Me, the real James Franco. I'm at home. I'm not promoting anything, okay? I started this account because there's some serious stuff going on. Serious stuff. Look, this is real. I'm real. I'm not an AI or anything like that. Can AI James do this?" he said in the video.
He then wrote the name of his order on a piece of paper.
"This is me. For those who know. There are some serious things going on and that's why I'm talking to you. I know I might seem crazy and you might be wondering what's going on and what the heck is going on. It's not a heck of a heck. This is real. I can't say much right now. I just want you to follow me, so I'll know who's with me and I'll show you some crazy things," he added.
To date (June 12), he has posted a total of seven videos, all filmed in the same T-shirt, in which he reiterates that "crazy things" are happening, but without any further explanation.
The number 2319, which appears in his username, is also the title of one of the most viewed videos, which has garnered more than 10 million views. In the clip, Franco mostly stares silently into the camera.
The audience's reactions are divided. While some fans express concern for his condition, others are skeptical and believe that it is a marketing campaign related to his new film.
