David Harbour has said that he and Millie Bobby Brown still "love and appreciate each other very much" despite the harassment allegations that surfaced last year.
In November, a report surfaced that Brown had accused her "Stranger Things" co-star of "harassment and bullying" on set, which reportedly led to an internal investigation within Netflix. The report noted that there were no allegations of sexual misconduct.
Harbour has now addressed the whole situation in an interview with Variety , describing the report as a “strange thing” that “came up in a strange way.” He stressed that he and Broun remain close and are currently working on “a few” new projects together.
"It's very simple. It was just a simple misunderstanding and reconciliation. When we put everything aside and talked to each other, everything was fine. Nowadays, people are very afraid to talk about things. They're afraid to be human beings. It's sad, because I don't know how to navigate this strange media world anymore either. But everything was completely normal, and we love each other and always have," the actor said.
"You'll see more of me and Milla. Ten years wasn't enough. There's a special bond between us. I love her, she loves me," he added.
Brown also spoke to Variety in the same piece and highlighted how much Harbour meant to her during the filming of the series.
"I've obviously changed a lot from season one to season five, and David has been there through it all. Over time, our relationship has become much more creative and collaborative. When you've worked with someone for so many years, you can really push each other emotionally in scenes. Even though the series has ended, there remains a huge gratitude. I will always remember and cherish that experience that I shared with him all these years," the actress emphasized.
Shortly after the original report was released, Braun played down rumors of a feud with Harbour, emphasizing that it was "really exciting" to work with him again on the fifth and final season of "Stranger Things."
She later reiterated that she remained on good terms with her on-screen father.
"We've been working together for ten years. I feel safe with everyone on that set. We also play father and daughter, so naturally you have a closer bond than with the others. Especially because we had very intense scenes together, especially in the second season," she said at the time.
Netflix has not commented on the case, but series co-creator Ross Duffer told The Hollywood Reporter:
"Obviously you understand that I can't get into personal things on set, but I can say that we've been working with this cast for ten years and they're like family to us at this point. We care deeply about them. Nothing is more important to us than making the set a place where everyone feels safe and happy."
In the same new interview, Harbour also spoke for the first time about what he calls a "strange" experience when his ex-wife Lily Allen detailed their breakup on her album "West End Girl."
"It was weird," Harbour said of the period when the album was being released.
"I believe that every artist has the right to turn their experience into art, and that's why I respect that she did it," he added, saying that he didn't want to say much more about it.
"I can't really say much more, because it's my private life. Even though many people don't allow me privacy, I value it. I also value the lives of the people I communicate with privately. I'm just not going to talk about it," the actor said.
