Fashion should be accessible to everyone

The International Festival of Arts and Fashion "Dove of Peace" and Nikšić, the European Capital of Culture 2030, are organizing a "Fashion Evening" in that city, an event in which two Montenegrin designers, Sanela Đoković and Lidija Burić, will present their collections, as well as their colleagues from the region, Emina Husedžinović Ibrahimović from Sarajevo and Emilija Stojaković with the brand Sassy la femme from Belgrade, as well as Ekaterina Chernysheva with the brand Rodasoleil from Lithuania.

"Fashion Night" will be held on June 20th, starting at 8:30 PM at Freedom Square.

In an interview with "Vijesti", Sanela Đoković, a fashion designer from Podgorica, hinted at what she will present to the audience in Nikšić, who will have the opportunity to see her models for the first time.

"I haven't had the opportunity to present myself in Nikšić before and I'm really looking forward to this event. My expectations are, as always, that the guests who will be present will like the collection and that the audience will react nicely to what I have prepared," the fashion designer begins the conversation.

In addition to hers, the audience will be able to see collections from other designers from the region, and she also reflects on how important it is to organize such events for audiences outside the capital.

"It is very important that we present ourselves outside the capital. I always look forward to events like this because they provide an opportunity for my colleagues and I to present ourselves to the audience in our cities across Montenegro. I believe it is important that fashion is accessible to everyone and that the audience has the opportunity to see the work of local and regional designers," she emphasizes, revealing what she has prepared for the occasion.

"I have prepared 12 creations. There will be dress models with a somewhat more unusual cut and made of scuba material and satin, but also more urban models made of zippers. I wanted to create a combination of different styles. The dresses will be in various colors, while the more urban creations will be in black with black and gold zippers. The collection is called 'Traces of Time'", the interviewee told "Vijesti".

As she says, this is not the premiere presentation of the collection, but she has added new models for the presentation in Nikšić.

"I already had most of the models ready, because I recently presented the collection in Bulgaria. For the show in Nikšić, I added a few new models to further complete the collection," explained Đoković.

Asked whether the collection "Traces of Time" will be presented elsewhere after Nikšić, she says:

"The collection has already been presented in Bulgaria, and we will see about further presentation in the coming period through new projects and events to come."

When it comes to further plans, the fashion designer from Podgorica explains what she focuses on most during her current work in the studio.

"My plans are to continue to improve, work hard, and progress. I have several interesting offers, but I wouldn't reveal them yet. My team and I are working at full speed and are very much looking forward to everything that awaits us in the coming period," she said.

Considering that in addition to her and Lidija Burić, designers from other countries will also be presenting themselves to the Nikšić audience, Đoković praised the selection of participants for the "Fashion Evening".

"I am familiar with the work of my colleagues who will be participating in the show and I am very glad that we will be part of the same event. When I saw the list of participants, I was especially happy, because they are truly hardworking and talented people from whom we can learn a lot," she says.
