Actor Tom Holland appears to have confirmed that he is married to co-star Zendaya in a new cover story for Esquire magazine, when he said that their families were "all there" on their wedding day.
Speculation about whether the famous actors and colleagues from the "Spider-Man" films have officially married has been going on since January, when Zendaya's stylist stated on the red carpet of the Golden Globes that their wedding "already happened" and that "that's absolutely true."
His statement caused a storm on social media and led to the spread of viral photos generated by artificial intelligence showing Zendaya in a wedding dress, as well as other fake images that purportedly showed the ceremony.
Zendaya did not confirm her marriage to Holland during the promotional tour for the film "The Drama," but she did talk about the AI photos.
“I was out in real life, and people were coming up to me and saying, ‘Oh my God, your wedding photos are beautiful.’ And I was like, ‘Honey, that’s AI. It’s not real,’” Zendaya said in March during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
She added that even many people from her private life believed the photos were authentic and were angry that they did not receive an invitation.
Speaking to Esquire, Holland said that the whole AI photo situation was amusing to him. When asked if he had to explain to family members that the photos weren't real, he replied:
"No, because everyone was there."
According to the magazine, the journalist then told him that he didn't know the wedding had already taken place.
"That's all you'll get on that subject," the actor replied.
