Actress Amanda Seyfried has revealed that she had to hire a bodyguard after critical comments she made about Charlie Kirk.

Right-wing activist Charlie Kirk was shot in the neck and killed while speaking on stage at a university event in Utah on September 10th of last year. His death sparked a lot of media controversy, with the series “South Park” and host Jimmy Kimmel coming under fire for their views on the conservative figure.

At the time of his death, Seyfried left a comment on a video dedicated to Kirk in which she described him as “full of hate.” After negative reactions online, she clarified her position on Instagram.

"I can be angry about misogyny and racist rhetoric, and at the same time find the murder of Charlie Kirk absolutely disturbing and reprehensible in every way possible," she wrote.

Reflecting on the event in a new interview with British GQ, Seyfried stood by her original stance.

"First, I have the right to express my feelings, and second, to do so in a way that is not necessarily malicious. But there is a disproportionate level of fear, hatred, and the need to attack and tear people down. I have only experienced a small part of that," she said.

“I want my kids to feel safe expressing their opinions, as long as they’re not harmful. So I was like, ‘What do I do? What do I say?’ And then all of a sudden I had a goddamn bodyguard at the airport and I was like, ‘This is crazy,’” she revealed.
