Actress Jamie King has spoken out about why she didn't attend her friend Taylor Swift's wedding.
The "Hart of Dixie" star shared details about her current relationship with the pop star after she and her 10-year-old son Leo, to whom Taylor is godfather, did not attend the singer and athlete Travis Kelce's wedding, held last Friday in New York.
Seeking to clarify the situation, spokesperson Jamie King told Page Six magazine:
"The reason Jamie chose Taylor to be Leo's godmother is because they both believe that the role of godmother is a deeply personal and spiritual commitment that has nothing to do with public appearances."
He added that Leo Thames is still too young for a big wedding intended for adults, but that he and his mother celebrated Taylor and Kelsey's marriage in a special way, adapted to his age, during the summer holidays.
This statement followed a text stating that none of Taylor's five godchildren attended her wedding at Madison Square Garden.
In addition to Leo, Taylor is godmother to Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds' children. However, the acting couple did not attend the ceremony either, which sparked speculation that Taylor and Blake are no longer friends.
About 1.000 guests were invited to the celebrity wedding of the year, including Brad Pitt, Tom Hanks, Paul McCartney, Hugh Grant, Sabrina Carpenter, Gigi Hadid, Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone, Lena Dunham and the Haim sisters.
Taylor and Jamie became close friends after meeting at a Golden Globes party in 2014, and the 47-year-old actress asked the singer to be her son Leo's godmother the following year, after the birth of her son.
According to sources, the friends have allegedly not been seen together or in regular contact for years.
