Sam Neill's cause of death revealed

Legendary actor Sam Neill has died from complications of pneumonia at the age of 78, his agent Philip Grenz confirmed.

The actor who rose to fame thanks to the "Jurassic Park" films previously fought a difficult battle with a rare form of blood cancer, but the disease was able to be put into remission thanks to innovative CAR-T therapy.

Neil was diagnosed with angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma in 2022, and the actor previously said he would likely need treatment for the rest of his life. His family said that despite their great loss, they were comforted by the fact that he spent his final days cancer-free.

"Sam passed away from pneumonia. Before he became ill, he bravely fought and defeated lymphoma using a new form of treatment called CAR-T therapy," Grenz said, adding that a private memorial service will be held for the actor at his estate in New Zealand.

Despite his health problems, Neil has remained committed to acting. In the past year, he has filmed four projects, while also running his winery, "Two Paddocks," in New Zealand.

During a rich career spanning more than five decades, he has achieved numerous notable roles, and audiences will remember him best as Dr. Alan Grant from "Jurassic Park," but also for the films "The Hunt for Red October" and "The Piano," as well as the series "The Tudors" and "Peaky Blinders."

Numerous colleagues, including Nicole Kidman, Toni Collette, Kylie Minogue and Cillian Murphy, said goodbye to the actor.
