Offset avoids jail time on assault charge

Rapper Offset has been ordered to do 50 hours of community service after being accused of physically assaulting a security guard.

In November last year, Jimen Leobardo Sanchez filed a civil lawsuit against the former Migos member, accusing him of assault, causing bodily harm, and causing emotional distress.

According to the lawsuit, Offset, whose real name is Kiari Sefus, visited a MedMen cannabis store in Los Angeles in March 2025, where he allegedly pushed Sanchez away by his protective vest and then punched him once in the left cheek after the employee refused to let him in without showing his ID.

A month later, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office filed a misdemeanor assault charge against the rapper, and he pleaded not guilty in court.

However, according to court documents obtained by Rolling Stone, the judge agreed to dismiss the criminal charges if Offset meets the terms of the plea agreement. These include 50 hours of community service, attending an anger management program, and not committing another crime or misdemeanor for the next 12 months.

If he violates any of the conditions, the court may reactivate the proceedings against him.

His lawyer, Kristi O'Connor, said the rapper had "led a clean life" since the incident and regretted what she described as "an unpleasant and regrettable event."

Representatives for Offset and Sanchez have not yet commented on the court's decision.

Offset continues to deny all charges against him, while the civil lawsuit against him remains ongoing.
