The “Show Your Dance” dance challenge, which Sea Dance launched a few days ago, quickly caught the attention of the audience. The idea is simple, those interested should record their dance moves to a song by one of the performers of this year’s festival, Hugel. The participants are asked primarily for energy, not a dance degree, so there is no set choreography, perfect moves, or the need for ten attempts in front of the camera. The more spontaneous, the better. And those who are most convincing in enjoying the sounds of Hugel will receive VIP tickets to the festival, accommodation and festival products, while the main prize takes them straight to the stage, during the performance of this famous DJ.

While numerous challenge participants are trying to win a place on stage with Hugel with their dance moves, Slavko Kalezić already knows where he will be that evening. The Montenegrin actor will be one of the main dancers during Hugel's performance, which means he will once again show the festival audience how much he enjoys dancing.

"For me, this is a great opportunity to continue what naturally moves me after a short summer break - acting, music, movement, stage... That's why it's especially interesting for me to be on stage this time in a special role and collaborate with the Sea Dance Festival team. The great Hugel is creating musical madness, and I will "translate" it through dance. For me, it's a special kind of play - without words. Although, you never know with me. There might be words. You know I'm full of surprises," Kalezić says with a laugh in an interview for "Vijesti".

In the projects he participates in, Slavko's role is not always the same. Namely, sometimes he is in the foreground, and sometimes the main role is entrusted to others. On the Sea Dance stage this time he will be in a "supporting role", while DJ Hugel will have the main word, whose rhythms will set the pace of the evening, leaving Kalezić to take on his role through dance.

"In art, there are no small or big roles, there are only well-played or poorly-played roles. A real actor must know how to be the main character, but also how to get through a three-second frame. Every situation is an opportunity to learn something, to explore yourself, and to give the audience something authentic. For me, it's even more challenging when I don't have to be the center of attention, and yet I have to hold the audience's attention. It's a special kind of discipline and stage intelligence," he admits.

DJ Hugel is one of the most recognizable names in the contemporary electronic scene, known for his fusion of new wave Latin house and Afro house sounds that have brought him to numerous world stages. Slavko is well acquainted with his work, so the performance will be an opportunity for him to enjoy the music of this DJ live. When asked whether he will let the rhythm and atmosphere carry him, or will he prepare choreographies for this performance, he answers:

“I know Hugel's music, I like him a lot, and I really like his style. I'm sure that the combination of our energies on stage will be a special power. When it comes to dancing - I don't want to kill spontaneity. I'll create some kind of choreographic framework, and then leave room for the music, the audience, and the moment to take me where I need to go. For me, dancing is most interesting when it looks like it's happening right now, and not like someone just 'did eight eights'”.

Slavko will be joined on the Sea Dance stage by dancers who will be selected through a competition announced by the festival. It is also an opportunity to show what is often missing in our region - completely relaxed and spontaneous dancing. In our country, people rarely decide to dance without hesitation, so it often comes down to a few recognizable movements, such as nodding their heads or raising their hands in the air. Many are still shy about letting themselves be carried away by music, which is why Slavko's performance will be an opportunity to change that atmosphere, and his advice for good movement and enjoyment of music is:

“Stop thinking about how you look (laughs)! The biggest obstacle in dancing is thinking about whether someone is looking at you. The truth is that people are looking at you much less than you think. There is no wrong move if you enjoy the music. Of course, it is desirable to have a sense of rhythm (laughs). Just don't let other people's opinions be more important than your own feelings. Let your body react to the music. The rest will come by itself.”

Slavko has repeatedly shown through various projects how naturally he comes to dance and how much he enjoys every movement. As he himself says, dancing recharges his batteries, gives him extra energy, and is a way to completely surrender to the moment, regardless of whether he is in front of the cameras or on stage.

"Dance is a kind of therapy for me. When I dance, I stop analyzing, planning and controlling things. The body takes over and the head can finally rest a little. I think that's one of the most beautiful things about dancing - you can be completely present in the moment. After a good dance, I'm physically tired, but mentally I feel like I've been reborn," admits Kalezić, and he hopes that this engagement at Sea Dance will open the door for him to perhaps show off all his talents during a performance next year.

"I love when I can combine what I carry within me - acting, music, dance. Let what is coming be the beginning of a new stage energy. What will come of it... you will see at the Sea Dance Festival in 2027. Until then, there are many projects that I have prepared waiting for you," concludes Kalezić.
