Longtime journalist Sabrija Vulić is the father of three children. The oldest, Vasil, is 12 years old, Lejla is ten, and the youngest, Ilan, is sixteen months old.
About how much the role of father has changed him, he says that "the moment you become a father, life turns upside down". ˝You become a person who has unlimited responsibility in front of him˝.
Sabrija believes that the role of the father has changed in today's time.
"The father is no longer that serious brat who issues orders with a pipe in his mouth and shows no emotion," he states, stressing that today it is something completely different.
˝A father should be both a friend and an orderer to his children with the aim of guiding them on the right path.˝
Sabria advises other parents to talk to their children and says, "talk to your children as much as possible."
˝The basic ones are related to their health and education. And that question that always hangs over your head, so that they don't go down the wrong path. He says that today's children are surrounded by many dangers. ˝You are afraid of drugs, crime. You think about all that and look for a way how and what to do so that they stay away from it", says Sabrija.
He believes that it is essential that at this age his children understand that success does not come easily.
˝That effort and work are the basis of everything. Simply to create work habits. As they are still small, I am aware that they are ``wanted'', that is why they have many activities. In addition to elementary school, according to Sabrija, his children Vasil and Lejla go to music school and play sports.
˝I am proud of them for being successful in all fields˝.
He says that it is not difficult for him to play with them, joke, simply hang out.
˝I try to boost their self-confidence, to support them when it is difficult, to criticize them if they don't do what they need to do˝. About the youngest Ilan, he says that he is still a baby who took his first steps and who learns his first life lessons by falling, crying and making them happy with his smile.
How much time does he spend with the children?
Sabrija says that it is the most difficult question for him.
About how much the role of father has changed him, he says that "the moment you become a father, life turns upside down".
˝I try to spend every free moment, as far as my obligations allow, with all three children and I am happiest when the whole family is together.˝ He points out that it is difficult, but he likes to accompany Vasil and Lejla to every concert or game, to do homework with them, to throw the ball with Ilana.
˝It is a pleasure that cannot be compensated or described.˝
Sabria advises other parents to talk to their children and says, "talk to your children as much as possible. Don't punish them, but talk to them like adults."
He believes that children will know how to appreciate it, and that parents will then be satisfied with their results.
