'Reborn babies' have become very popular in the UK and the US due to their incredibly realistic appearance, the Daily Mail reports.
These harbors even have saliva in their mouths. Among the buyers of the colorful doll are women who these dolls remind of the baby they lost.
British Nikki Hunn, a graphic designer who makes dolls, told Le Quotidien that most buyers keep the dolls at home in their cradles, but some even take them on holiday, where no one knows them.
Eve Hasty, a 57-year-old American who bought "Abby" in the UK for about $300 (£180), said it reminded her of her seven-year-old daughter who died of leukaemia.
She also has a son and an eight-year-old grandson. She told the newspaper that Abby is much more than a doll for her: "I know she's not going to be sick and she's not going to die. I don't have that pressure anymore."
Regarding these dolls, the opinions of psychologists are divided.
Some believe that "Reborn babies" risk creating more problems than they solve and that if there are loving people who don't have babies, there are many living human beings who need care.
However, some experts believe that the doll can be a "tool" to help parents cope with the loss of a child and can even contribute to health, as long as they are not used for too long.
