After eating, we all usually like to relax a little, eat our favorite fruit, take a walk or lie down to take a nap.
You wouldn't believe it, but it's not recommended to do all of this after a meal.
Some things we do after eating, which we are convinced are good for us, turn out to be wrong. Here's why:
SMOKING
Smokers usually like to light up after a meal. Experts do not recommend smoking, but it is especially dangerous after eating. Because, as experts claim, if you light a cigarette immediately after a meal, you harm the body as if you had lit 10 cigarettes at once. The risk of lung cancer is increased. Also, smoking has a particular effect on the worsening of irritable bowel syndrome (nervous bowel syndrome).
A WALK
Although this is one of the most common tips, walking after eating is not as good for us as we thought. If you immediately go for a walk, the digestive system will not be able to process and "absorb" all the nutrients from the food we eat. It is best to wait at least half an hour after eating and then go for a walk (for about 10 minutes). You won't have stomach problems, and the walk will do you good.
FRUITS AND TEAS
If you immediately reach for fruit after lunch or dinner, know that this habit can cost you bloating. Fruits will not "be able to get their turn" for digestion. Wait an hour or two, then eat the fruit.
Teas are phenomenal and great for digestion, but not right after a meal. They contain polyphenols and tannins that hinder the absorption of iron. This is especially bad for those who are iron deficient, usually children and pregnant women. Brew a cup of tea an hour after eating.
BATHING AND SLEEPING
Most people have lunch after work, immediately go swimming, and then have an afternoon nap. However, this is a very bad move. If you bathe immediately after a meal, the blood will start to circulate more strongly in the legs, with the hands neglecting the stomach, which can weaken the digestive system. Wait 30 minutes after lunch or dinner.
Napping after lunch is not good because it will slow down digestion. There may be an unpleasant sensation in the mouth and throat, as well as snoring. Sleep only two hours after a meal.
The best thing to do after a meal is to sit down for two minutes, clear the table, get ready for a walk (this will take you the recommended half hour), go outside and walk for 10 minutes, reports coolstyle.ba.
