Do "round" birthdays throw you into depression? If the answer is yes, it's possible that your brain is developing more slowly, which makes you more anxious. At least that's what researchers from the University of Toronto claim, who point out that aging is good for the brain and intelligence.
Scientists used magnetic resonance imaging to analyze the brains of 359 people aged 22 to 36. In doing so, they established typical brain connections for early adulthood and those that develop in later years.
They also observed how relationships change depending on whether a person worked and what kind of social relationships they had.
The brains of most healthy people over the age of 30 showed greater focus. Also, these people processed information more efficiently, better controlled their actions and decisions.
But for some it was not like that, which had a negative effect on their mental health. People who entered the fourth decade and reported psychological problems had one similarity - a less developed network in the brain, reports Novosti.
