We all want to have healthy, smooth and shiny hair, but many of our regular habits can actually damage and weaken our hair. Some of the habits we do automatically, without thinking, but they affect the health of our hair.
Here are 20 simple but great new habits you can use to protect your hair and help it grow healthier and stronger.
It is important to remember that our hair is basically made up of dead cells, just like our nails. This means that it does not produce vitamins and nutrients by itself, but must absorb external substances such as natural oils produced by the hair root or nutrients that come from nature or cosmetic products.
Its structure is porous, and therefore it can absorb these substances - but it can also collect and "inhale" pollution, UV rays, harmful chemicals and salt.
- Apply plain white vinegar to your hair after shampooing and leave it on for a few minutes before rinsing. Your hair will be shinier from the very first time you try this.
- Make a natural avocado hair mask once a month.
- Wash your hair with raw egg white instead of shampoo. Although it may seem strange, this natural product hydrates the hair better than many commercial beauty products.
- Do not wash your hair too often. Washing will remove too much oil from the roots, which is necessary for hair growth.
- Use sulfate-free shampoos. Sulfate is one of the most harmful ingredients for hair's natural moisture. There are sulfate-free products on the market that will help make your hair healthier and stronger.
- Make a loose braid before going to bed. This will give you beautiful wavy curls in the morning, prevent your hair from tangling and breaking as you toss and turn in your sleep, and help your hair grow faster.
- Massage the root of the head every day with a wooden brush to activate blood circulation in the area, and thus naturally stimulate hair growth.
- Protect your hair from the sun. You can use sun creams or special summer hair products, which will protect against chlorine and salt water.
- Do not constantly blow dry your hair. Let it dry naturally, or use dry shampoos or leave-in conditioners to protect your hair from the heat.
- Dry your hair completely before going to bed if you don't want to have a bad hairstyle in the morning. Wet hair is much more sensitive and prone to breakage.
- Avoid styling products (hair irons, curlers), and especially do not use them before applying a heat protectant spray. The high temperatures of these devices weaken the hair.
- Argan oil has many beneficial effects on your hair. Use it for split ends and dry skin and hair, or as a leave-in conditioner.
- Don't brush your hair when it's wet – it makes it weaker and more prone to breakage. Instead, use a wide comb while applying conditioner in the tub.
- Avoid frequent dyeing and bleaching of hair. Dyes contain harsh chemicals, such as ammonia, which cause significant amounts of damage to the hair and can also cause burns to the hair roots.
- Use satin or silk pillowcases. These materials will not damage your hair as you toss and turn during the night in your sleep.
- If you have damaged hair that is prone to split ends, you should trim your hair every eight weeks to keep it healthy.
- Consume biotin. This vitamin stimulates the growth of nails and hair and facilitates skin regeneration.
- Relax! Nothing damages hair more than stress. No matter how much you take care of yourself, if you don't reduce your stress level, your hair will never be as beautiful as it could be, reports Healthy and Happy.
- Eat well. Your hair is nourished by everything you eat. If you avoid proteins, natural fats and vitamins in your diet, your hair will show this deficiency.
- Treat your hair regularly with natural or commercial masks that are rich in vitamins and oils.
