Good news for all lovers of spicy (spicy) food. Researchers at the University of Vermont School of Medicine recently discovered a link between longevity and spicy food consumption.
After years of monitoring the habits of 16.000 Americans, researchers have come up with results that show that those who consumed spicy food daily had a 14 percent reduction in overall mortality.
In addition to helping with longevity, researchers note that spicy food prevents obesity. It also has a positive effect on health because capsaicin, the active agent contained in red chili peppers, has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.
Earlier research also indicated that spices, especially their bioactive components, have a beneficial effect on the human body, reports klix.ba.
