Native American culture is rich in magical customs, and the tribes have always had a spirit of freedom. However, in the 20th century, that spirit soon disappeared.
That's why photographer Edward Curtis dedicated decades of his life to capturing and recording the lifestyles of indigenous tribes in North America, and his extensive body of work includes some of the most stunning photographs from the period.
In 1906, the wealthy banker JP Morgan provided Curtis with $75.000 to produce a series about American Indians. Together they produced 20 episodes of the series, called "The North American Indian".
Edward spent more than 20 years traveling across the continent and took more than 40.000 photographs depicting more than 80 tribes. He also recorded their songs and language, and transcribed everything into oral histories and biographies.
His work has a lot of authenticity and is considered one of the greatest studies on Indians.
