The sixth edition of the fashion manifestation International Fashion Festival (IFF) Porto Montenegro will be held on July 19 and 20, and this time fashion houses Genny, Faith Connexion and Ezra Couture, and designers Ticiano Đardini and Boris Čalić will present their works.
In addition to high and classic fashion, this year the emphasis will also be on sustainable fashion, and the novelty is that the models of the mentioned brands will be exhibited during the event in the Fashion Gallery space in Porto Montenegro, where everyone interested will be able to view them, it was announced at the conference for the media held yesterday at the Hilton Hotel in Podgorica.
"In January, when I was at Haute Couture Week in Paris, I was surprised how many people know about Porto Montenegro, that is, about our festival and how much they ask and how much it is appreciated, and what was a great compliment to me was the sentence that Porto Montenegro is on the way to making the festival structure what the Cannes Film Festival is in fashion. So I sincerely hope that we are on the right track", said Vesna Mandić, in front of the Fabrika agency, which organizes the IFF.
"We have a novelty this year, and that is something that is unimaginable at festivals of this type in the world. This is so that at least part of the collections shown at the shows are not available only to people who have invitations and who follow the event on small screens, because many want to see what it looks like, touch it, look at it", she pointed out, and then gave the floor to Ivan Kuliku, in front of the Fashion Gallery where the models will be exhibited.
"We are very proud to be part of this extraordinary event and I think that such things will bring us closer to our common goal, which is to be the center of fashion events not only in Montenegro, but also in the Balkans," he said.
The media conference was also attended by the PR manager of Porto Montenegro, Danilo Kalezić, who pointed out that he is very satisfied with the continuation of cooperation with Fabrik.
"We want Tivat to be recognized as a fashion destination for the month of July and that guests, not only of the Port and the Regent Hotel, but in general people who visit Montenegro, come with the tendency to see something serious and different, both our and world fashion trends at the famous Synchro stage, which will be renovated in the future, so we will move, but in any case it will not be worse, but slightly better locations", he said.
"We have really taken a step forward again, with the content and structure of creating an event that does not only work from those nine or ten o'clock in the evening, but we want to, in cooperation with our tenants, such as the Fashion Gallery, but also others in the future, make Porto Montenegro one with a 72-hour event that will truly mark the fashion of Montenegro", added Kalezić.
Spokeswoman Jovana Živković spoke in front of the Regent Hotel, which is the main sponsor of the event.
"Since the first edition, we have been great friends and supporters of this fantastic project and it is truly an honor for us to host the biggest stars and fashion names visiting Porto Montenegro during those few days. We are extremely happy, our team is ready and we expect another fantastic edition of the IFF", said Živković.
Mandić pointed out that this year's edition brings novelties, conditioned by world trends.
"The whole world has changed, technology has done its thing, so we have to keep up with new trends in fashion, and we also received various advice from our people who are the IFF team, from Paris, Milan... who say that is an absolute 'must have' to have classic, high, but also trendy fashion that is a reflection of the modern world. And what is the future of fashion and what all fashion events in the world are based on is sustainable fashion, which is very important considering that the fashion industry is one of the biggest polluters of the planet", explained Mandić, adding that towards "world fashion festival have the task of promoting sustainable fashion".
"The goal of promotion is not only for the creators to make it, nor for the media to help promote sustainable fashion, but for it to be represented in the broad masses of people and for people to break down barriers fearing to buy something that is made of recycled material, and among other things, it is not only from recycled but also from natural materials. We were lucky to connect with Sara Sozani, who founded the Sozani Foundation in collaboration with Vogue Italy and together they announce the best sustainable fashion designer every year. She said without saying a word that she would call Titian Đardin and tell him to come to Porto Montenegro," she revealed.
As he points out, he is the best creator of sustainable fashion, which for him is a lifestyle.
"We will start with his performance on stage, where in a few minutes he will explain to the general public why it is important not only to create, but also to buy sustainable fashion, and during that time the ballet group will play a performance on stage in his models," she announced. .
"We received a proposal from Italy that a well-known Montenegrin creator, and in my opinion the most famous, make a collection of sustainable fashion, so that we have two magicians, one of the world and one, hopefully soon, Montenegrin, and the world magician of sustainable fashion. And of course, there is only one man on whom I could have chosen, and that is Boris Čalić", explained Mandić.
"I am glad that Vesna recognized through my creativity and the previous collection that I organized on the Millennium Bridge, which was based on sustainable fashion, to continue that path. What is important is that we educate the public that sustainable fashion represents a cycle where the focus is not only on materials, but on the circle that should be completed, from the selection of materials, through ethics in terms of labor force and not making mass collections", believes Čalić.
"In Montenegro, we don't have a developed fashion industry, so we are not at risk from that point of view, but we are because of mass production, and that is why we want to educate the public to buy sustainable fashion and to invest smarter, to buy pieces from domestic designers who do not produce collections in large series, so that they know composition of materials, but also to educate themselves about brands, because today women in particular accumulate pieces of clothing that have a short life and the question is where it ends up," emphasized the designer, who also pointed out that his collection will be supported by a global care brand skin, but also that it is an honor for him that he will "meet world names side by side at this most prestigious fashion event in Montenegro and in the region".
