Summer is the perfect time for light shoes, sandals and barefoot walks – but it's also the season when our feet are exposed to the sun and numerous external factors that can harm them. Dry skin, cracked heels, fungus and unpleasant odors are common "summer problems" of the feet. Fortunately, with proper and regular care, your feet can look beautiful, healthy and well-groomed – and without much effort.
1. Start care: Regular exfoliation and baths
The skin on your feet, especially on your heels, is prone to thickening and cracking. Exfoliating at least twice a week will help remove dead skin cells and soften your skin. Use natural scrubs based on sea salt, sugar, coconut oil, or coffee. After exfoliating, soak your feet in a warm bath with sea salt or baking soda – it’s great for relaxation, but also as a prevention of fungal infections.
2. Hydration is key
After exfoliating and bathing, be sure to apply a rich moisturizer. Choose formulas with urea, glycerin, or natural oils like almond, coconut, or shea butter. Apply daily, preferably in the evening – with a light massage, which will further stimulate circulation.
3. Nail care and hygiene
Don't forget to trim and shape your nails regularly. Nails should be short and straight to prevent ingrown toenails. Clean and dry feet are the best prevention against odors and fungus – so dry them thoroughly after each wash, especially between the toes.
4. Proper footwear and protection
Choose comfortable sandals and slippers made of natural materials that allow your skin to breathe. Avoid plastic and synthetic materials that retain moisture and create an ideal breeding ground for bacteria. If you go to the pool or beach, be sure to wear flip-flops and wash and dry your feet thoroughly afterward.
5. Home spa rituals for feet
Treat yourself to a mini spa at home every now and then: make a foot mask of honey and yogurt, wrap them in warm towels, and relax. In addition to nourishing your skin, this ritual is the perfect way to unwind after a busy day.
Well-groomed feet are not a luxury – they are part of your overall health, but also your summer aesthetic. Regular care, the right choice of footwear, and a little attention every day make all the difference.
