Chanel's dream show - a collection inspired by the world of fairy tales

Chanel creative director Matje Blazi drew on the world of fairy tales for his second haute couture collection for the Parisian fashion house, shown in Paris.

Green ivy embroidered on a sheer skirt and jacket, white feathered wings on the back of the dress, and a combination made of appliquéd embroidered swans were among the references to classic stories like "Jack and the Beanstalk," which Blazi scattered throughout the show.

Among the guests in the front row were actors Catherine Deneuve, Tilda Swinton, Alexa Demi and Pedro Pascal.

Models walked through a set filled with giant flowers, wearing hats resembling bird's nests and tweed skirts with dramatic slits.

"The inner life of storybooks is transferred to the clothes themselves; a vine can climb the heel of a shoe, a small minodier bag can appear as a sleeping bear, and a row of buttons can transform from a duckling into a swan," Blazi wrote in the show notes.

Blazi, whose designs have reignited interest in the famed Parisian fashion house, continued to lavishly use embroidered flowers and feathers, with dresses featuring huge red and turquoise feathered collars and hems. Jackets featured intricate beadwork around the neckline, a motif repeated on dresses with wide, straight necklines and sheer dresses.
