"Wash your hands and don't touch your face" - one of the main tips for avoiding infection with the corona virus has been buzzing from all sides for months. And while we have mostly successfully mastered washing our hands properly, some of us still have big problems with the second part of the sentence.
Touching the face is an unconscious reflex for many, and research shows that the average person touches their face 23 times in one hour. Now it is extremely important to minimize such contact due to the risk of infection, and getting rid of this unhygienic habit is also worth it otherwise, because of the prevention of acne and skin inflammation.
The first and absolutely indispensable step is to become aware that you are touching your face. Try to register in which situations and for what reasons you do it most often. It is very possible that you do this in moments of stress and anxiety, or that you automatically associate touching with some specific actions, for example reading or driving.
After that, you are ready for the next step - use your hands. Have a ball, rubber band or some other small object in your hands that will always be close at hand. If the hands are occupied, you will see that the fingers will rush towards the face much less often, reports Cosmopolitan.
Another trick that you might find useful is to anoint your hands with some natural product with a very strong smell - tea tree oil is ideal because, even if you do touch your face, it has strong disinfecting properties. The intense smell will bother the mucous membranes of the eyes and nose, so you will avoid close contact. After all, it will remind you to keep your hands away from your face. It would also be useful to ask your loved ones to remind you and return the favor.
