Seemingly unimportant complaints such as fatigue or jaw pain can be symptoms of serious health conditions, so you should never ignore them and see a doctor.
A family doctor warns that clumsiness and pain in the jaw can be the first symptoms of serious health problems such as a heart attack. Michela Sorensen was a guest on Australian national television and explained which frequent and seemingly unimportant symptoms can be the reason for an urgent visit to the doctor, writes Daily Mail.
Those symptoms, as she pointed out, are red flags hiding in plain sight. She said that such constant thirst is the first symptom of diabetes, and a dull pain in the face could be a symptom of a heart attack, while a dry cough is a possible symptom of asthma.
She warned women to be especially careful when it comes to changes in digestion, such as bloating or constipation, because these are symptoms that can be associated with ovarian cancer, which is difficult to diagnose, reports 24sata.hr.
"If you've noticed changes in your body and you're not sure if they're just because you're tired or exhausted, don't ignore them. No one knows your body better than you," said Dr. Sorensen.
1. Pain in the jaw
Although usually a heart attack can herald a feeling of tightness in the chest, dr. Sorensen says that in individuals, especially those with diabetes, the experience was associated with jaw pain.
"The sensation is a dull ache that spreads along the face into the arm. It's important not to ignore it," she explained.
2. Changes in digestion
"Changes in stool texture, frequency, and color that last more than a few days are a reason to see a doctor to rule out bowel cancer," says Dr. Sorensen. If you are constipated or suffer from bloating, also see a doctor, even if you have recently had a check-up.
3. Clumsiness
"Clumsiness can be a 'harbinger' of an imminent stroke or other brain disease," the doctor warned, adding that special attention should be paid if things often fall out of your hands, you lose control of your legs and struggle to walk in a straight line. If such complaints persist, it is a cause for concern.
4. Sudden weight loss
Although losing weight through diet and activity is cause for celebration, dr. Sorensen warns that unexpected weight loss is a sign that the body is fighting an infection or a more serious illness.
"If you suddenly lose more than five percent of your weight within four to eight weeks without changing your lifestyle, definitely see a doctor to rule out the possibility of an autoimmune disease or cancer," advised Sorensen.
5. Night cough
"A mild but persistent cough that occurs late at night is a poorly known symptom of asthma," says Dr. Sorensen.
The cough is usually dry, and you should definitely visit a doctor because of this in order to eliminate the possible damage it causes to the lungs.
6. Loss of breath
If you get out of breath quickly, this can be a sign that you are out of shape, but it can also indicate anemia. It's a condition caused by a reduction in the number or 'fullness' of red blood cells that carry oxygen around the body. "If you don't have enough, it feels like you're at high altitude all the time," explained Sorensen. The most common cause of anemia is vitamin B12 and iron deficiency.
