In a long-term study, scientists discovered which one job actually the most stressful. Stockbroker, bus driver, kindergarten teacher, pilot, cashier, doctor - these are all jobs we could imagine topping the list the most stressful jobs in the world.
But no, the most stressful job in the world is… being waiter. At least that's what a study from the Southern Medical University in China claims New sheet.
At first it might be a bit surprising, because it is a job with less responsibility than, for example, a pilot. But if you think about it, the result of the study seems more convincing. Waiters are constantly under mental and physical pressure during working hours, and the stress factor is enormously high.
In return, they experience little appreciation and, as if that were not enough, the work is very inflexible. Finally, unlike doctors, for example, waiters are not rewarded with good pay and recognition. Scientists have also found that stress makes waiters reach for cigarettes and alcohol more often. The long-term study was conducted for 17 years with a total of 136.000 participants.
