Most people perceive meditation as a complicated action that involves complete relaxation of the mind and body. Many who have wandering thoughts, cannot calm down and relax, often think that they cannot master this technique. Discouraged, they give up at the very beginning.
Yoga teacher and author of the book "Yoga and nutrition" Ivana Beljanski-Ulić herself practices meditation in her daily life and shares advice with people on how to best master this technique, she writes N1.
"Meditation is key to understanding one's own authentic nature and the essence of the universe. Through the practice of meditation, without our will, mind and desire, there is a connection with the "higher self", with our true nature and with the unique field", explains Ivana.
As he states, clarity of consciousness, alertness and clarity of mind develop very subtly. "Gaining silent knowledge, we see and understand from the soul what we cannot explain with the mind and intellect," adds the interviewee of the N1 portal.
Beljanski-Ulić further points out that there are different types of meditation and that it is necessary to try and find the best one for us.
"It is necessary to meditate with the pure intention of being free from thoughts, but without expectations and attachment to the result. You should start with a shorter meditation and slowly increase the time. When the thoughts return, notice them without analyzing and attachment. You can learn a lot about yourself by observing thoughts during meditation... Just be gentle and patient with yourself, but be persistent in your intention to meditate. We are not the same every day, and meditation will not be the same every day either," advises the yoga instructor.
To our question, what is the best reflection of the benefit of practicing meditation in everyday life, Ivana Beljanski-Ulić answers that by immersing yourself in yourself through meditation, tension and fatigue are released. As she says, in this way we take care of ourselves, the health of our mind and body, we return every day to the whole and the field of enthusiasm and harmony, our natural state, and in this way we neutralize the stress of everyday life.
When asked what are the biggest misconceptions related to meditation, she answers that one of the biggest is that meditation is connected to Hinduism and that it has to do with religion, as well as that during meditation a person must not have thoughts.
He advises that the best way to start the day is with meditation. However, meditation is just as good when done at other times of the day.
"It is important to meditate at a time that is more permanently suitable in relation to the rhythm of the day and the obligations that a person has during the day. It is not recommended to meditate before going to bed, because meditation usually increases energy and wakes you up," he points out.
At the very end, the yoga teacher says: "Find the ideal meditation and time for you, there are no universal rules."
