We know that fruit is healthy, that it is an excellent choice for a diet that favors reduced body weight due to its high fiber content, low caloric value and large amount of water. However, there are certain rules on how and when to eat fruit, without creating a health problem instead of its health benefits.
1. Fruit and combining it with other foods
If we eat fruit together with other foods, it can cause serious digestive problems. Fructose, a natural fruit sugar, in interaction with ingredients from some other foods can trigger a large secretion of acid. Another bad circumstance is a large amount of previously ingested food, whose normal digestion process the fruit can practically stop. A large amount of undigested food in the stomach causes bloating, gas, cramps, often diarrhea, broadcast by B92.
Acid reflux leads to heartburn, possibly some major complications. This is especially true for citrus fruits, but also for some other types, such as bananas. That is why it is recommended to eat fruit separately, that is, separately from other food.
2. What happens when we eat fruit in the evening or at night
Many people choose fruit for their last meal, thinking that it will not burden the stomach too much. However, even in this case, we make certain mistakes, and they relate primarily to the time of consumption. Namely, fruit should not be eaten immediately before going to bed, because even then it can lead to seriously impaired digestive function, as well as to disrupt the circadian rhythm.
The "culprit" is again sugar because it raises the energy level at the wrong moment - when the body needs to completely relax and fall asleep. Eating fruit right before bedtime carries a significant risk of sleep disturbances, cramps, diarrhea and potential loss of electrolytes.
3. Fruit and water
Nutrition experts state that fruits that contain a large amount of water are extremely useful and should be eaten especially in summer, when the risk of dehydration is high. However, when we eat fruits with a high water content (orange, watermelon, cantaloupe, strawberry...), it can change the pH balance by reducing the acidity in the stomach. In this case, the mucous membrane is often irritated, and heartburn and diarrhea are just some of the potential problems.
4. One of the most common dilemmas: Is the peel of the fruit harmful
Most often we peel off the skin, and that is one of the big mistakes. In many cases, the skin of the fruit is an extremely good source of antioxidants and vitamins. For example, the skin of apples and pears contains a high content of fiber, as well as vitamins A and C. It is the same with peaches.
However, many people are allergic to the pesticides that fruit trees are exposed to, so an additional process of cleaning the skin before consumption is recommended to remove traces of chemicals. Soak the fruit in a solution of cold water and baking soda and keep it like that for half an hour before consumption.
