When it comes to losing weight, we all make mistakes that can result in weight gain. Nutritionist Vidhi Chawla reveals the reasons why your diet isn't working and what you can do to finally lose the extra pounds.
Maybe you eat too often
Do you eat too often or eat heavy meals? Most often, it is the main cause of weight gain and can interfere with weight loss plans. Instead, you should eat foods rich in fiber, protein, and healthy fats. A diet rich in fiber and protein will make you feel full for a long time and not consume those extra calories.
Eating without thinking
Mindless eating refers to enjoying your favorite foods while driving, working, or watching television or using a cell phone. This can adversely affect your attempt to lose weight. Whenever you feel hungry, try to wait a bit, drink water and eat only healthy food. Sometimes hunger pangs can be due to dehydration so make sure you drink enough water.
Too many calories
Frequent and more frequent meals can lead to higher calorie intake. During the day, make sure your lunch is full of protein and nutrients because that's when you start feeling hungry which means you don't have the proper nutrients.
Be sure to include one or two healthy snacks between meals to avoid extreme hunger and overeating. Ideally, there should be a gap of 4 hours between meals.
Fatigue and stress
Tiredness and stress often lead to emotional eating because food brings you comfort and happiness. But, in such situations, you often reach for unhealthy food, which can lead to the intake of unnecessary calories and overeating. So make sure your stress is under control. You can try yoga and meditation to manage your stress levels and stay calm and relaxed.
Choice of food
Many people think that the key is to eat a lot of healthy food, but this is wrong. The correct proportion of food is important. For example, eating healthy fats is good for your health. But eating too much fat can lead to weight gain because all fats contain 9 calories per gram. That's twice the amount of carbohydrates and protein. So be aware of the food choices you use.
There are many other reasons why we gain weight besides diet. Try to pay attention to your daily activities, get enough rest and reduce your stress level, it says Ordination.
