Unlike other types of tumors where the frequency is decreasing, unfortunately, the frequency of liver cancer has been continuously increasing for the last ten years. The main causes of liver cancer are cirrhosis and diseases that lead to it, such as viral hepatitis B and C and fatty liver. Indigestion-like symptoms are common with liver cancer, which is the sixth most common type of cancer and the fourth leading cause of death worldwide.
Sufferers usually have symptoms of heartburn, bloating, nausea and vomiting. Also, some people had as a symptom a feeling of satiety very quickly after a small meal or snack. But such symptoms can often be ignored because they resemble symptoms of indigestion, which are usually harmless.
That is why it is important to warn about potential dangers and hidden symptoms, because liver cancer can be very difficult to recognize. Namely, symptoms often do not appear at all in the early stages of the disease, and when they appear, it is important to react as quickly as possible, because life can depend on it.
Symptoms that are easily mistaken for digestive problems are: feeling weak and "as if you are sick", pain in the upper right side of the stomach or in the right shoulder, symptoms of indigestion such as a quick feeling of fullness after a few bites, as well as a visibly bloated stomach regardless of whether you just ate something or not, writes živim.hr.
Other symptoms:
- weight loss (more than 5 percent of normal body weight over 6 to 12 months)
- yellowish color of skin and sclera
- elevated body temperature
- itch
- dark urine and pale stools
- feeling sick
- loss of appetite
- a lump on the right side of the abdominal cavity
- general unwellness or flu-like symptoms
The existence of such symptoms does not necessarily mean that you have liver cancer or that you are seriously ill, but if they persist for more than two weeks, you should consult a doctor.
