It is common for most people to buy bagels from a bakery, but as we all know - everything is better if it is made at home. It is the same with this type of pastry. We found the recipe for a nice variant on the Instagram page kikiioklajijica ,
ingredients:
- 200 ml of milk
- 100 ml of water
- 6 g of dry yeast
- 1 spoon of sugar
- 80 ml of oil
- 500 g flour
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 spoon of basil
- 70 g of butter (you can also use margarine)
- 1 egg for coating
- 300 g of young cheese (or feta cheese)
Preparation:
Pour warm milk, water, sugar, yeast, oil into a bowl and mix. Add flour, salt, basil and knead a soft and smooth dough.
Transfer the dough to an oiled bowl, cover with cling film and leave at room temperature until it doubles in size.
Place the dough on the work surface, divide it into 10 parts and shape each part into a ball. Divide the butter or margarine into 10 parts and spread on each ball. Leave them to stand for 15 minutes.
Shape each ball into a rectangle with your hands and spread the butter, then spread the cheese, roll it up, connect the ends and shape it into a bagel. Place the pastry on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and let it rise for about 20 minutes. Brush with beaten egg and bake at 220°C for about 10 minutes.
