When you come home tired and want a warm, substantial meal without any complications, the combination of tender steaks and creamy spinach is a safe choice. It's quick to prepare, filling, and easy to adapt to the tastes of the whole family.
Ingredients (for 2 to 3 people)
For the steaks:
- 500 g pork or chicken steaks
- salt and freshly ground pepper
- 1 teaspoon sweet paprika
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 2 tablespoons olive oil or a little butter
For spinach:
- 400 g fresh spinach (or 300 g frozen)
- 2 cloves garlic
- 100 ml sour cream for cooking
- salt and pepper
- pinch of nutmeg (optional)
Preparation
Steaks
Pound the meat lightly with a meat mallet. Season with salt, pepper and paprika. Roll thinly in flour and shake off the excess.
Fry in hot oil for 3 to 4 minutes on each side, depending on thickness. Do not turn too often - allow a light crust to form so the steaks stay juicy.
Spinach
Briefly fry the finely chopped garlic in a little oil (about 30 seconds). Add the spinach and sauté until tender - fresh spinach only needs a few minutes.
Stir in the cream, season with salt, pepper and nutmeg. Cook for another 2 to 3 minutes until slightly thickened.
Serving
Let the steaks rest for a minute, then serve them with warm, creamy spinach. They go great with boiled potatoes, mashed potatoes, or a simple seasonal salad.
A warm, homemade lunch is ready in less than half an hour.
