Research has shown that as many as one third of couples argue about the heating during cold winter days. Women want to increase the heating because they are colder, and men are the ones who constantly turn the heating down and off.
Such behavior, however, is not just a whim. Namely, Danish scientists determined in 2015 that men are most comfortable when the temperature is between 24 and 25 degrees Celsius, and women are comfortable only when the temperature is about 2,5 degrees higher, because they are more sensitive to cold, reports vecernji.hr.
There is a reason for this, and it is estrogen, a hormone that thickens the blood, which means that blood flow is a little slower in women than in men. The level of this hormone is higher at the time of ovulation, so women then feel even colder than usual.
Another interesting piece of information found during this research is that as many as four out of ten women turn up the heat in the house secretly from their partners.
