Podgorica Millennium Run this year will not only be a sporting event, but also an opportunity to promote environmental protection. In partnership with the "Green Wave" initiative, the organizers made a significant step towards environmental sustainability, with the aim of reducing the ecological footprint through recycling and responsible waste management.
During the race, which will be held on November 9 and 10 in Podgorica, clearly marked containers for sorting different types of packaging will be placed at the start and finish line, as well as at all refreshment stations. In this way, all participants, volunteers and visitors will be able to be part of the "recycling race" - a race filled with environmental awareness and concern for nature conservation.
Ilija Kaluđerović, founder of the "Green Wave" Initiative, pointed out that they are proud to be part of the Millennium Run - an event where health care, sport and environmental protection are intertwined.
“We always look forward to the opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of waste management, especially at events such as this. Podgorica Millennium Run continues to promote physical activity, togetherness and responsible behavior towards nature. All participants are invited to use the recycling stations on the track, contribute to the preservation of the environment and show a responsible attitude," said Kaluđerović.
According to Igor Majer, the founder of the Mayer Multisport Academy and the organizer of the race, the initiative, which is implemented with the support of partners from "Green Wave", is an opportunity for the Podgorica Millennium Run to become an example for sports events in the region when it comes to ecology and recycling.
"The long-term goal of this collaboration is to encourage the community and other event organizers to integrate similar sustainable practices into their plans, so that together we can contribute to a cleaner and healthier environment for future generations," said Mayer.
The combination of healthy lifestyles and environmental awareness, according to him, not only changes the way we look at sporting events, but also inspires other communities and organizers to include sustainable practices in their plans.
"We are especially proud that, after the event, we will inform the public about the total collected and recycled waste, using this data to monitor and evaluate our future actions," Majer concluded.
We remind all those interested that applications for the Millennium Run are open until November 5.
