"We worked on this project with great dedication and enthusiasm, aware that energy efficiency is one of our greatest challenges. Thanks to the solar power plant, part of our consumption now comes from renewable sources, which means a direct reduction in CO₂ emissions and a positive contribution to a greener future. With projects like this, we show that companies can have a concrete impact on sustainability and that responsible business brings long-term benefits not only to us, but also to society as a whole," he emphasized. Ratko Pustahija, director of the Technical Department at the One company.
This project contributes to reducing losses in electricity transmission, and optimization since the solar power plant produces energy during the day, when the need for electricity is greatest. The Electric Power Company of Montenegro, whose company Solar gradnja plays a key role in the mission of mass installation of solar power plants, says that these systems provide economic benefits that, along with the environmental side of the story, fully aligned with global and European sustainable development goals, are encouraging more and more citizens to further propagate this idea by their example.
"Many households and businesses like One understand that such projects have long-term benefits for environmental protection and sustainable economic growth. However, this idea has yet to gain real momentum in our country. For this, we need to inspire each other and make insisting on green practices, just like One does, something we do not give up on. In this way, EPCG's intention to use renewable energy sources to produce as many green megawatts as possible will be realized even faster, and our country will become increasingly greener," he pointed out. Željko Pekić, Solari 5000+ project manager and Chief Coordinator of Solari projects at the Directorate for Renewable Energy Sources of EPCG.
As a member of the European 4iG Group, One is already integrating the relatively new concept of environmental protection, social responsibility and responsible corporate governance (ESG) into its business strategy. Also, by contributing to the increase in renewable energy, the first Montenegrin telco operator is aligning itself with the national strategy and contributing to the achievement of EU standards.
"Using solar energy instead of energy obtained from fossil fuels helps reduce carbon dioxide emissions, which is in line with the EU's goals for 2030 and 2050. This transition is key to fulfilling the obligations that our country has as a candidate for EU membership. Also, the Union itself has already started implementing ESG standards, which already represent the framework for our business," adds Pustahija.
One emphasizes that this solar power plant is just the beginning, promising to continue investing in projects that will reduce the environmental footprint and further align operations with ESG standards.
"We believe that digitalization and sustainability must go hand in hand, and that is why we will continue to work even stronger and greener," says One.
