This change represents a modern approach to education that recognizes that creativity and expression play just as important a role as technical knowledge and analytical skills. Adding an "A" - art - gives education a new dimension that helps young people think differently, combine knowledge from multiple fields, and develop solutions that respond to the complex challenges of modern society.
“Art is not just an addition to science - it is a bridge between ideas and their application. The STEAM approach allows us to offer young people an education that is neither narrowly specialized nor superficially broad, but one that encourages them to think, connect and create. That is the direction we want to go - together with the community, for the community,” said Predrag Lešić, CEO of doMEn.
This step represents a natural continuation of the company's long-standing socially responsible strategy DOMEN, which for the past 17 years has been dedicated to investing and launching projects aimed at empowering the Montenegrin community towards adopting new technologies and knowledge, for which over 1,5 million euros have been invested so far. Through this strategy, doMEn has supported numerous initiatives for youth, including Spark.me conference, Spark.me Startup adventure, programming school in cooperation with the University of Montenegro, as well as a number of other projects in the fields of education, innovation and digital literacy.
STEM education, as a platform and program framework that DOMEn has developed and nurtured since 2009, has been a key space for gathering and educating young people in Montenegro. Over a thousand elementary and secondary school students have so far attended free courses at the DOMEn Programming School, organized in cooperation with the Faculty of Science and Mathematics of the University of Montenegro. Over the years, a number of different educational activities have been implemented, and all previous resources, along with information about the new STEAM initiative, will be available on the website www.steamedukacija.me, which will continue to serve as network of knowledge and inspiration for young people who want to develop their skills in STEAM fields.
In the spirit of a long-standing commitment to education, DOMEn has also developed a series of free manuals that represent important tools for developing digital skills and responsible use of the internet among children and young people. Adapted to age and contemporary challenges, these materials serve to support learning at home, in the classroom, or through independent research - “How to create your first game” opens the door to programming through a simple and fun approach to creating your first game, "How to take your first STEM steps" inspires young people to explore scientific fields through understandable and motivating content, while “Children's safety on the internet and social networks” offers concrete guidelines for creating a safe and stimulating digital environment, both for children, parents and teachers. STEAM does not change what STEM already offers - it builds on it. In the spirit of this change, doMEn continues to develop new educational projects that will follow the contemporary needs of young people and the education system. All information about the program and upcoming activities will be available on the website www.steamedukacija.me as well as on ours Facebook i Instagram networks.
