Today, under the auspices of the Electric Power Company of Montenegro, the Energy Symposium EPCG – NET 2025 was officially opened in Budva, a significant event that brings together experts, representatives of state institutions and leaders in the field of energy. This gathering represents a platform for the exchange of knowledge, innovations and experiences in the electricity sector, with the aim of improving energy efficiency and sustainable development of Montenegro.

On behalf of the Electric Power Company of Montenegro, the attendees were addressed by Executive Director Ivan Bulatović, who emphasized that the company strives to raise the symposium to a higher level every year - both in terms of content and quality, and in the exchange of experiences.

"We are particularly pleased that this year's symposium brought together more than 250 participants - experts, representatives of institutions, companies and organizations from various fields - who directly or indirectly participate in creating the energy future of our region. Among us are people who make important strategic decisions, as well as those who work on the development, implementation and improvement of energy policies on a daily basis," Bulatović emphasized.

He recalled that Montenegro is today more than ever committed to the European integration process and has clearly opted for a green and sustainable transition.

"One of the key steps is soon expected - the adoption of the National Energy and Climate Plan, a document that will represent the strategic foundation for all future projects," said Bulatović, adding that Elektroprivreda Crne Gore, as a leader in the domestic energy sector, is actively involved in this process and ready to be the bearer of the energy transition.

The Minister of Energy and Mining, Admir Šahmanović, also addressed the opening of the Symposium. As he emphasized, the primary responsibility of this department, as the key decision-makers, is to clearly define the strategic direction and follow it consistently.

"With its diligent work, the Electric Power Company of Montenegro demonstrates responsibility, vision and readiness to be one of the drivers of energy transition in Montenegro. We are facing global challenges, climate change and the necessity of sustainable development. Therefore, switching to new energy sources is not only an environmental imperative, but also a strategic decision for economic growth and energy security of our country," Šahmanović emphasized.

He particularly emphasized that the energy sector recognizes its obligations towards European integration and green initiatives. The transition to clean and renewable sources, such as hydropower and green hydrogen, is key to meeting national energy and climate goals. This is supported by the current development of the National Energy and Climate Plan, which will serve as a strategic basis for all future energy projects.

The Minister recalled that energy and investments in sustainable technologies are essential for our sovereignty and stability. Commitment to international cooperation, legislative reforms and infrastructure investments contribute to Montenegro's progress on the path to clean energy.

On behalf of the Energy Workers' Union, the attendees were addressed by President Nikola Rajković, who reminded them that this organization has a rich tradition and a long history of existence, and that today it brings together a significant number of young and promising experts in the field of energy.

"The Union of Energy Engineers of Montenegro proudly notes the continuity in its work and building professional capacities. We are particularly pleased that an increasing number of young people recognize the importance of the energy sector and are actively involved in its development. In synergy with the Electric Power Company of Montenegro, we achieve concrete, measurable and high-quality results, which additionally motivates all participants in this process," emphasized Rajković.

Speaking about current challenges and prospects, he emphasized that the energy transition project is not only challenging, but also very inspiring and well-designed.

"This project opens the door to new technologies, innovations and cooperation, but also requires a high level of expertise, responsibility and joint engagement of all actors in the system," he concluded.

"Today's ceremonial opening of the EPCG Energy Symposium - NET 2025 in Budva is more than a formal gathering - it is a strong confirmation that Montenegro is ready to become the driver of a green and sustainable energy transition. As the Board of Directors of Elektroprivreda, we clearly see how important it is for energy to be a reliable pillar of our economic future, but also the foundation of environmental preservation," said Milutin Đukanović, President of the EPCG Board of Directors.
