MTEL is organizing the “m:GREEN Hackathon”, a unique competition dedicated to innovations in the field of recycling and environmental protection, which will be held 20. November at the M:tel digital factory in Podgorica, starting at 11 a.m. This year's theme of the hackathon, which brings together programmers, designers, engineers and creatives, is recycling. The MTEL company wants to encourage citizens to design and create smart digital solutions that contribute to sustainable development and responsible waste management, especially electronic and technological waste.
The hackathon is organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Northern Development as well as the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation.
Ideas that change the world
Participants will have 48 hours to develop innovative solutions that connect technology and ecology, from applications that encourage citizens to recycle, to smart containers, reward systems, and digital platforms that facilitate the collection and reuse of waste.
Special emphasis will be placed on the recycling of phones, chargers, batteries and electronic equipment, through ideas that show how technology can have a second life.
Participants will be able to develop:
- mobile applications that guide users through the recycling process
- IoT solutions that track and sort waste
- platforms for device reuse
- systems for motivating citizens through "green points"
- educational digital tools that promote environmental awareness among young people
The expert jury will evaluate the products according to the following criteria: innovativeness of the idea - how original and creative the idea is in approaching the topic of recycling, technical implementation - functionality, technical performance and usability of the prototype, social and environmental impact - the potential of the solution to encourage change in the community and contribute to environmental conservation, then design and user experience - ease of use and visual quality of the product. Finally, the jury will also evaluate sustainability and applicability - the reality of implementation and the potential for further development of the project.
The best ideas will be awarded, and the winning teams will have the opportunity, with the support of MTEL, to develop their prototypes into real projects.
The M:GREEN Hackathon is part of a broader MTEL initiative promoting responsible and green digital transformation. By connecting young talent, technology and environmental values, MTEL aims to inspire a generation that thinks sustainably, digitally and boldly.
