In a time when the world is changing day by day, the notary office remains one of the rare places of stability, trust and security. It is precisely in such a space, in a profession where there is no rush, no improvisation and no superficiality, that a woman who believes that professionalism is as important as humanity has found her strength and calling. Her work is characterized by precision, calmness, consistency and the ability to understand the moment in which citizens find themselves when they make the most important decisions in life. But what sets Vesna Ralević apart is not only her legal expertise – but also her energy, responsibility and the way she builds a team that stands shoulder to shoulder with her. And when the story starts from authenticity, then the interview is just a continuation of a sincere professional philosophy.
What does it mean to you to be a woman in the notary public's office today?
For me, notary work is not a job – it is a calling. A calling to be a stable point of trust for people who often come to me at times when they are making important, emotional, and sometimes difficult decisions. There is no improvisation in notary work. There is only law, clear procedure, responsibility, and complete dedication. And it is in this precision and clarity that I find the meaning of my work.
What do you consider the key to successful leadership?
Leadership doesn't have to be loud. It doesn't have to be imposed. It doesn't have to be "behind me" - it can be "next to me."
My team is mostly made up of women. Each of them brings their own strength, their own ambition, and their own pace. Together, we build a space where knowledge is shared, not hoarded; success is celebrated, not silenced; mistakes are corrected, not hidden. I have always believed that a successful woman should never be a threat to another woman. On the contrary – her success can only be an inspiration. There is one rule in my office: “No one grows alone.”
Your team is mostly made up of women. Is that intentional or spontaneous?
Spontaneous. When I choose people I look at the character, professionalism and energy someone brings to the office. It's true that the majority of the team is women, but my most important collaborator is a man and his presence provides a fantastic balance.
I love having both feminine and masculine energy in the office – together they create a dynamic that is healthy, stable and professional. Women often bring precision, patience and empathy, while men bring determination, calm and a different perspective. It's a combination that works.
They say that your greatest trait is that you see other people's success as your own.
Absolutely. I've never understood the concept of envy. Someone else's success is proof that it's possible, and when it's possible – then we all can.
You are known for your energy and determination in your work. How does this affect your professional life?
It's true – my energy never stops. It comes from the fact that I believe in what I do, I believe in people and I believe in the possibility of growth – my own, others', and the team's. But it is not the energy that consumes, but the energy that drives. It motivates, pulls forward, encourages others to believe that they can do more than they think. In my work, I like dynamics, precision and professionalism, as well as getting the job done immediately. And I like it most when young people recognize the notary public as a space in which they can build a career. Because a notary is not a bureaucrat.
A notary is a guardian of security, an impartial interlocutor, a professional who combines the law and the human dimension of every legal matter.
How much does family mean to you as support?
Balancing work and private life is not always easy, but it is worth every effort. My family is my anchor. They are the reason I can be both calm and strong, both gentle and determined. In a time when we are expected to be everything – both available and present, both professional and caring – balance becomes a life skill. And when you know your values, when you know why you work and who you work for, everything somehow becomes clearer and easier. Everything I do, I do more easily precisely because I know that behind me stands a stability that is not visible from the outside.
THE POWER OF NOTARYSHIP – THE POWER OF TRUST
Notary is much more than just certifying signatures. It is about safeguarding the legal security of people, their decisions, their will and their future. A notary is, by the nature of his job, impartial – he protects justice, legality and clear procedure. That is why this profession carries an enormous responsibility, but also a special honor: to be a person whom people trust in the most important moments of their lives. I believe that the role of women in notarial practice carries a special value. And I believe that women, with their calm approach and attention, often enrich this role in a special way. That is why notarial practice is, in its essence, a profession that is both legal and deeply human.
Your message to the women who are coming.
If there is a message I would like to leave for the coming generation, it is that every woman is much stronger than she thinks. That she is capable of leading, of creating, of changing circumstances and of motivating others, and that she does not have to choose between strength and tenderness. Success is not reserved for those who talk about it the most, but for those who work for it the most.
And no woman should wait for permission to start – not from society, not from her environment, not from fear.
Courage doesn't mean you're not afraid.
Courage means moving forward despite fear.
If my journey can show any woman that it is possible to be professional, empathetic, determined, dedicated to family, and a leader at the same time – then every day of my work has been meaningful.
