The best students of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Montenegro, 28 of them, were awarded with the amount of 500 euros, provided by the Montenegrin Commercial Bank. This award shows that knowledge, effort and perseverance pay off, and that excellence is based on values and responsibility. With the support of the community and the economy, such students become the bearers of the future social and economic progress of Montenegro.
The award ceremony for the best students for the 2024/25 academic year was organized by the Faculty of Economics and the Alumni Club of the Faculty of Economics, while the Montenegrin Commercial Bank was the sponsor of the awards.
Dean of the Faculty of Economics, University of Montenegro, Prof. Dr. Mijat Jocović He said that knowledge remains the most profitable investment and the foundation of social progress.
As he pointed out, the awards are a recognition of students who have distinguished themselves in the previous academic year with their work, ambition, discipline and knowledge, but also with values that go beyond academic success.
"Excellence does not only mean high grades, but also responsibility, high ethical standards, empathy, humanity and the courage to persevere when it is most difficult," said Jocović, stating that he is proud of both the students' academic results and the values they promote at the Faculty of Economics and the University of Montenegro.
He warned that in modern society, knowledge is often relativized, while quick and superficial successes are often valued more than serious work and well-founded analyses, which is why the role of the university, and especially the Faculty of Economics, gains additional importance.
President of the Governing Board of the University of Montenegro, Prof. Dr. Milivoje Radović He said that success does not come from predetermined algorithms, but through togetherness, trust, and humanity.
"The times we live in are changing us. Instead of being happy about progress, we often become more selfish and closed-minded, as if we are creating poorly trained algorithms, in which instead of saying 'thank you' we choose the attitude that everything belongs to us," said Radović.
He emphasized that today's awards confirm that the academic community values the work and results of students, telling them to experience this moment as part of the path to success, not as its final goal.
"The path to success is made up of family, colleagues, professors, friends and community. This is a moment of recognition for the chosen ones, but it is important to know that you are not alone on this path. If you walk alone, you usually won't get far," Radović pointed out.
He added that for long-term success, it is necessary to believe in yourself and the people around you, because life does not work according to predetermined patterns.
"Life does not have ready-made algorithms. Life is not Chat GPT. Life is full of challenges and when you face them, be people first and foremost, not just economists," said Radović.
Director of the Marketing, Communications and CRM Department of the Crnogorska Komercijalna Banka, Nemanja Đurašković, He said that it was an honor and privilege for him, on behalf of CKB, to participate in awarding scholarships to the best students of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Montenegro.
"There are moments in your career that remind you of where you started and why it is important to always return to where it all began. Meetings with young people who are with us today are always such a reminder. When I myself was sitting in the amphitheaters of the Faculty of Economics, I believed that knowledge has the power to change a personal path, but only now, from this perspective, do I know that it also changes society. The scholarships we are awarding today are not just a recognition of the success achieved, but a message of trust. Let us see the potential of young people, let us believe in their ambition and count on them as future leaders, experts and carriers of the development of Montenegro," said Đurašković.
He pointed out that the best students don't need motivation, they already carry it within themselves.
"It is up to us to support them on that path and to clearly show them: We are here. That their efforts and our experience build Montenegro as the best place to live and work," said Đurašković.
Andrijana Šekularac, undergraduate student at the Faculty of Economics, winner of the award for the best performance after completing the first year of studies, with an average grade of 10,00, said that for her this recognition is confirmation that work and dedication always pay off.
"This award is proof that work and effort pay off, but also a strong motivation and incentive for further work, professional development and finding one's place in society. This recognition represents an additional opportunity for future development and easier job finding, but also a strengthening of the sense of community at the faculty," emphasized Šekularac.
Student of undergraduate studies at the Faculty of Economics, Milica Vujošević, winner of the award for the best performance after completing the first two years of studies with an average grade of 10,00, said that this recognition represents a great motivation for her to continue working and improving.
