When experience is built over decades, and medicine improves daily, the result is trust that lasts. When medicine reaches a level where precision, experience, and innovation meet in perfect balance, orthopedics emerges that Montenegro has never had before.
In the year in which Codra Hospital celebrates 25 years of existence, orthopedics confirms its position as one of the most modern and reliable centers in the region. It confirms what Codra is known for – a lasting commitment to modern medicine, innovation and the patient at the center of every step.
Codra is a place where modern world methods are applied today, where top experts and the most modern technology work in the service of what is most important to the patient - fast, safe and complete return to movement.
Why do patients choose CODRA Hospital?
Because behind every procedure there is knowledge.
Behind every decision – experience.
Behind every result - responsibility.
Because it is the only one in Montenegro that performs:
- hip prosthesis implantation via anterior approach, with faster and easier recovery
- Bilateral hip and knee arthroplasty in one procedure
- Modern knee prosthesis implantation surgeries with an individual approach
- Cruciate ligament surgeries using the new method of Dr. Saša Janković, with faster and more complete recovery
- Arthroscopic shoulder surgeries
Because Codra doesn't just treat the problem. Codra plans recovery.
Codra Hospital is not an alternative - it is a reference.
This year the Hospital CODRA celebrates a great anniversary – 25 years of brand existence and a quarter century of continuous development of modern medicine in Montenegro. Over the past two and a half decades, the hospital has grown into one of the most modern private healthcare institutions in the region, with high standards of safety, expertise and technological equipment.

Knee Surgery – Prof. Dr. Saša Janković
Dr. Sasa Jankovic, orthopedic specialist and doctor of science in the field of sports medicine, head of the Department of Orthopedics of the "Sveti Duh" Hospital in Zagreb, professor at the Faculty of Kinesiology, University of Zagreb, participant in numerous scientific projects with more than 60 professional and scientific papers, and official doctor of the Croatian national football team.
He is one of the most prominent orthopedists in the region, with almost 30 years of clinical experience, a rich scientific career, and an exceptional reputation in sports and medical circles.
His many years of experience working with professional athletes and top clubs confirm the highest level of expertise in the field of sports traumatology and arthroscopic surgery.
Prof. Janković is an internationally recognized expert in arthroscopic surgery and a regular lecturer at professional courses in Naples, Rotterdam, Ljubljana and Las Vegas. He introduced into clinical practice an original method of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction in combination with anterolateral ligament (ALL) reconstruction. This technique provides additional lateral stability to the knee and significantly reduces the risk of re-injury, especially in professional athletes.
It is particularly known for:
- Arthroscopic surgery of the knee, hip and ankle
- Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstructions
- More than 400 ACL reconstructions per year
- Introducing new surgical techniques in knee ligament reconstruction
- Installation of partial and total knee endoprostheses
- Introduced the original a new method for reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament and anterolateral ligament. This is a procedure intended mostly for athletes, it provides additional fixation on the outside of the knee and reduces the risk of re-injury.
- He has operated on top athletes from the Russian Federation and athletes from all over Central Europe, as well as some of the famous handball national team players and numerous football players from the first league teams NK Dinamo, NK Hajduk, NK Osijek...
- As the head of the medical team, a member of the Croatian national football team's staff and a member of the Health Commission, he participated in five World Cups, including silver in 2018 and bronze in 2022.
- His original knee reconstruction techniques have enabled numerous professional athletes to safely and quickly return to top-level sports.

In his daily practice, he applies the most modern minimally invasive and open surgical procedures, with an individualized approach to each patient.
In addition to performing complex orthopedic and trauma surgeries, he actively participates in creating postoperative rehabilitation and kinesitherapy protocols, with the goal of complete functional recovery and safe return to sports and professional activities. Hip and knee endoprosthetics – Dr. Radoslav Barjaktarović, Prof. Dr. Saša Janković, Dr. Petar Asanović, Dr. Stjepan Bulat
Teams with extensive experience in implanting endoprostheses who implant more than 1.200 endoprostheses annually.
Teams perform:
- Total and partial knee endoprostheses
- Total hip replacements using modern surgical approaches
- Total hip replacement – direct anterior approach (without cutting the muscles)
Special emphasis is placed on the direct anterior approach (DAA) for total hip replacement surgery – a modern, minimally invasive technique in which the procedure is performed through a natural intermuscular route, without cutting any muscles.
This allows patients to:
Significantly faster recovery and earlier walking
Less postoperative pain
Less blood loss
A more stable hip and a lower risk of dislocation
Shorter hospital stay
In addition to the anterior approach, total hip replacements are also implanted through the posterior approach, depending on the indication and individual needs of the patient.
Surgical procedures are performed in a modern operating block with eight operating rooms, one of which is dedicated to orthopedics, with state-of-the-art equipment and an individual approach to each patient.
Dr. Radoslav Barjaktarovic is an orthopedic surgery specialist with decades of experience in public and private practice.
