Tirana International Airport (TIA) has announced the start of operations of Finnair, the national airline of Finland, connecting Tirana with Helsinki with direct flights that will operate twice a week, every Thursday and Sunday.
The opening of this destination marks an important step in strengthening the connection between Albania and Northern Europe, while also providing access to Finnair's extensive network on routes to Asia, and to key global destinations via its hub in Helsinki.
Known for its efficiency and strategic geographical location, Helsinki Airport serves as a fast and competitive gateway between Europe and Asia.
This new destination is expected to attract a diverse passenger profile, including tourists exploring Albania as a developing destination, business travelers looking for efficient connections, as well as transit passengers benefiting from Finair's strong intercontinental network. At the same time, it offers passengers from Albania and the region easy access to Finland and convenient connections to key destinations in Northern Europe and Asia.
The inaugural flight was well received at Tirana International Airport with a special ceremony on the runway, which included a traditional water salute, welcoming activities for passengers and a symbolic ceremony with representatives of TIA and Finair.
