Speaking at a panel discussion dedicated to Chapter 27, held as part of the recently concluded Green Montenegro International Film Fest (GMIFF) in Žabljak, Vuletić emphasized that European integration is not just a formal framework, but an opportunity to build systemic solutions through responsible business that remain a lasting value to society.
Proactive role of the economy in packaging waste management
As part of their sustainability goals, companies are developing ambitious strategies and proactively participating in various projects aimed at responsible disposal of packaging after use.
For these reasons, as she stated, the company is participating in the establishment of a local packaging waste management operator, Recomont, with the aim of establishing a sustainable, efficient and systemic model of collection and recycling at the level of the entire country.
"At the same time, Coca-Cola HBC actively contributes to shaping sustainable policies through business associations such as the Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro and AmCham. Experience shows that equal involvement of the private sector in the development of legal solutions is crucial for achieving the most important sustainable development goals," said Vuletić.
In parallel, as she stated, the company continuously invests in innovative solutions such as the introduction of non-separable caps and lighter packaging, which directly reduces the use of plastic and significantly facilitates the collection and recycling process.
Community initiatives that create lasting environmental habits
Presenting specific community support projects that contribute to sustainability goals, Vuletić specifically referred to the umbrella initiative "Catch the Clean Wave", launched in 2018.
"We have been successfully implementing this initiative for eight years both on the Montenegrin coast and in the north of the country. We have the institutional support of the relevant Ministry, local governments, utility companies, NGOs and the hospitality sector. Together with citizens, we show how to build environmental awareness, and how we can properly dispose of used packaging and send it for recycling, so that it does not end up in our seas, lakes, forests and rivers," said Vuletić.
This year, the initiative received an additional upgrade through the installation of a recycling machine in a hypermarket in Podgorica, in cooperation with the company VOLI and the company "Deponija".
"We provided consumers with a practical way to return bottles and cans during regular shopping and earn rewards, because every piece of packaging has value and represents a resource that can be reused or recycled. We were also part of the festival in Ulcinj, as part of the Green EXIT Adriatic platform, where we encouraged visitors to responsibly collect and dispose of used packaging," explained Vuletić.
The “Chapter 27” panel, dedicated to green transition and environmental management, was organized by the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Northern Development. The panel was attended by Minister Damjan Ćulafić, Executive Director of Recomont Aneta Kankaraš, and environmental activist Vuk Vujisić.
Coca-Cola HBC Montenegro is a long-standing partner of the Green Montenegro International Film Fest, thereby continuously confirming its commitment to environmental preservation and the promotion of sustainable values.
