The Minister of Science, Dr. Sanja Damjanović, participated in the Ministerial Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency on nuclear science and technology: "Response to current and future development challenges", which is being held in Vienna.
"As part of the plenary session, Minister Damjanović addressed the conference delegates from the IAEA member countries, to whom, in her statement, she presented the system of science and research in Montenegro with a focus on current ongoing and development projects implemented by the Ministry of Science, and in particular the regional project Initiatives for the establishment of the International Institute for Sustainable Technologies of Southeast Europe (SEEIIST), whose 4th meeting of the Board of Directors was held at the IAEA headquarters in Vienna. An important place in Minister Damjanović's address was the cooperation of Montenegro with the International Atomic Energy Agency, as in technical cooperation and implementation of projects within the framework of which valuable equipment is procured, among other things, for the health system of Montenegro, as well as in the area of nuclear sciences and applications, through whose scientific and research projects, institutions from Montenegro achieve cooperation with other renowned research institutions from member countries IAEA," the Ministry of Science said in a statement.
The IAEA Ministerial Conference is a forum attended by over 1000 registered participants, and statements in the plenary part of the Conference were made by the heads of delegations from 64 countries, including the United States of America, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Canada, the Republic of Austria, the Republic of France, Switzerland, Federal Republic of Germany and others.
The conference was accompanied by panels, as well as the settings of the recently modernized research laboratories of the IAEA in Cybersdorf and Monaco.
The adoption of the Ministerial Declaration is also planned.
