Ford has announced a recall of 1,3 million Focus models in the United States of America (USA) due to a fuel system problem that can cause the engine to stall without warning.
The recall includes cars manufactured from 2012 to this year, with two-liter four-cylinder engines, reports Biznis.ba.
Ford said the valve can stay open, causing too much vacuum, and the engine control computer may not recognize the problem.
Excessive vacuum can cause the engine to choke and deform the fuel tank.
The recall came after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration presented Ford with complaints from car owners.
Ford warned owners that they should keep the fuel level in the tank at least half full until the repair is done.
Dealers will reprogram the computer and if necessary replace the valve starting December 10th.
