Volkswagen will be split into four holding companies to improve regional sales and increase the group's profits, Reuters has learned.
The first of the four new subgroups will include car brands that produce middle and lower class passenger vehicles - Volkswagen, Škoda, Seat.
In the second, there will be brands whose production program consists of MAN, Scania and VW commercial vehicles.
The remaining two companies, as reported by the world media, will have premium brands in their composition. One of them, led by Audi, includes Lamborghini and Ducati, while the other will be led by Porsche, and will also include Bentley and Bugatti.
A source from Volkswagen states that the former BMW manager, Herbert Dies, will be at the head of the first subgroup.
The Audi sector will be headed by Rupert Stadler, while Matthias Müller, the current head of Porsche, will be in charge of Porsche and its group of brands.
