A large asteroid will fly by the earth on Monday, but don't worry, the earth is safe, according to NASA, as reported by CNN.
The asteroid, named 2004 BL86, will pass through a spot 1,2 million kilometers from Earth, which is about three times the distance between the Earth and the Moon, according to NASA.
This asteroid is about 500 meters long and is the largest of all that have passed by the Earth so far, and it will remain like this until 2027, when asteroid 1999 AN10 will pass by us.
"The asteroid poses no danger to us, and it provides us with a unique opportunity to observe and learn more," said Don Yeomans, retired manager of NASA's Near Earth Object Office.
The asteroid will be visible using high-powered binoculars and telescopes found in many backyards, a rare opportunity for Earthlings who own these devices.
"Asteroids are something special. In the future, they will provide Earth with sources of mineral salts and other important resources," said Yeomans.
If you don't have binoculars or a telescope, you can observe the entire event from your computer thanks to the project The Virtual Telescope Project 2.0.
