The Facebook company, which six years ago bought the photo-sharing platform Instagram, is considering launching a special application that would be focused on shopping, "The Verge" writes.
The launch of the application, which would be called IG Shopping, could expand Instagram's influence on the online shopping market.
It would also allow users to search and buy products from retailers they follow within the IG Shopping app.
The development of the application is still ongoing and it is not clear when it will ever be launched, writes B92.
Instagram declined to comment on whether it plans to launch an IG Shopping app.
Many companies already have business accounts, and users are increasingly using the Instagram app to stay in touch with their favorite brands.
Four out of five Instagrammers already follow at least one business, writes "The Verge".
Instagram has gradually developed more tools for businesses over the past few years.
In 2016, business profiles gained the ability to tag products directly on posts. Users can click on the tag, and then a window opens in the app where they can buy it.
