We can hardly imagine everyday life without the Internet. It provides countless possibilities and greatly facilitates the way to the desired information. However, how engaged are women in our country when it comes to the Internet world? To what extent do they want to participate in content creation in that area?

On this topic, we spoke with three successful ladies, the founders of the first Montenegrin portals about parenting, cooking, and the one intended for women. All three are extremely active, socially engaged, and at the same time accomplished as mothers.

Founder of the portal Parents.me Kristina Mihailović says for "Život" that the Internet, like many other things, offers many opportunities for work and that it can be very useful, especially for mothers who have small children.

"There are endless possibilities and ideas, although we in Montenegro have one limiting factor, which is that people still do not use the Internet to a sufficient extent, except when it comes to social networks, for doing business, shopping, and information".

He believes that traditional ways are still more prevalent.

"There are endless possibilities and ideas, although we in Montenegro have one limiting factor, which is that people still do not use the Internet to a sufficient extent, except when it comes to social networks, for doing business, shopping, and information"

He says that he is not the type of person who divides the world into men and women, because, as he states, he believes that we are absolutely equal and that there is no need to emphasize either differences or similarities, "so in line with that, I think that here in Montenegro, men would also and women should use the Internet much more for work".

"Proof of this is their numerous sites and websites in the region, not to mention more, which are both innovative and useful and successful. You have to try and you have to believe in yourself, that's the key to success, whether you're a man or a woman, it doesn't matter".

When asked how she came up with the idea of founding the portal, she says: "Since I became a parent and a little before that, that is, about nine years ago, I started using the Internet for information about parenting and everything related to it."

She points out that she visited websites, mostly from the region, of which, as she says, there are many and among which there are several excellent ones, which helped her and her husband incredibly.

"Nevertheless, we always lacked that local note, and some information that only relates to Montenegro and that is specific, and we also wanted to exchange opinions with people who know our domestic problems and dilemmas best".

He states that there was, and still is, a strong desire to contribute to changing some things that need to be changed, and which do not make life easier for parents and children in Montenegro.

"The bottom line is that the parenting community is not sufficiently active, united, and vocal, but that has already slowly started to change, and it will."

According to her, all these reasons, as well as her desire to, after leaving the journalistic profession after 16 years, still somehow deal with writing, contributed to the idea that she proposed to her husband - to start the first parenting portal in Montenegro.

"The portal is constantly developing, now in parallel with the Parents Association, and I really believe that success will be its only result for a long time."

Increasing engagement

Chief editor of the first portal intended for women I am the woman Irena Milačić says that the increasing engagement of women in the Internet sphere is noticeable and that is something that makes her happy.

When it comes to Montenegro, she states, women are dominant in the world of marketing and communications, and it is known that these are professions that are to a significant extent referred to the Internet.

"The situation is similar with media professions, so I can freely say that our women follow trends and are very familiar with the advantages of the Internet."

She points out that many female readers comment on the content they publish every day, ask questions, and even participate in the creation of content.

"We are glad that the portal is one of the "starters", but also a place to relax and find useful information. During the past year, we published a series of interviews with creative ladies from our area. All of them have their own websites or pages on social networks and promote their work through those channels, which is certainly an indication that they have recognized the power of the Internet as a channel of communication, but also of placement".

The founder of the culinary site Vanja Rajković-Bojanić Kuvajza.me, states that it is a whole new world.

"I would dare to say a universe, in which everyone can find a place for themselves - their own safe planet. It's just like the wind where you can let out your voice and be sure someone will hear you, so even though you're unknown on the Internet, you're not alone and you'll soon find a large number of like-minded people."

He says that while earlier knowledge was jealously guarded, today it is selflessly shared, and the Internet is the perfect medium.

"The role of women and their representation on the Internet follows the trends of contemporary life, so in that sphere women are increasingly coming out of the shadows and deciding to express their opinion. Not all of us fight big wars, although we admire such personalities, but we are happy to tell our little stories and fight small battles to get or preserve what we care about".

Editor of the first Montenegrin fashion portal Montemoda.me Marina Strugar, did not manage to answer our questions regarding her experiences in that area within the stipulated time.

A kitchen lover

Isn't it wonderful when you brighten up the celebration of a complete stranger, on the other side of the planet, who is perhaps celebrating the most beautiful moment of his life with a cake according to your recipe?

"I want to share my experiences and hear the experiences of others, how to quickly, easily and simply make a delicious meal and be sure that it is homemade, that it is fresh and that it has verified contents, not one on the declaration and the other on the plate.

The idea came from my husband

The idea to launch the first Montenegrin portal intended for women, says Irena, came from her husband, who is also in charge of the technical development of the portal. As far as the name of the portal is concerned, we got our inspiration from Kaja Milačić's song called "Žena sam ja" and we can freely say that this song is a kind of anthem of the portal.
