It wasn't long after José Fontanhas from the Portuguese Worpress community finished his presentation at WebFest, among other things, criticizing Montenegro for not having its own version of that internet service, until he announced on Twitter - localization will happen, after all.
On location me.wordpress.org, after adapting it to the Montenegrin language, users will receive instructions on how to download and install Wordpress, a platform used by over 70 million websites worldwide.
Wordpress represents a revolution in blogging and the web industry, because it is simple and allows anyone to create a site.
The news about the launch of the version for Montenegro was accompanied by a live discussion on Twitter - whether or not it is possible to localize that and similar services before the Montenegrin language gets its corresponding ISO639 standard.
"This is important so that the energy of the translation volunteers is not wasted, but everyone gathers around the same ISO standard, in its ISO639-1, 2 and 3 form. In order to receive the appropriate code, after various emails from http://www.loc.gov/standards/iso639-2/ we received information that the national library should send a certain number of books in the Montenegrin language, as a confirmation that that language exists and then it moves into the procedure for obtaining standards", says Miloš Milošević from Fleka, the company that presented the keyboard to the public a few years ago Montenegrin language for the Mac platform.
"Before the announcement of the addition of new letters to the Montenegrin alphabet, we did a study for the Mac platform and created a keyboard layout for the Montenegrin language, which needs to be refined soon, but it is very important that the state establishes a language standardization body with a special focus on digital media. There must be rules so that everything does not end up on volunteer trips," Milošević told "Vijesta".
According to him, there is a constant confrontation with the lack of software with localization for the Montenegrin language, which, he says, creates a big barrier for older people who do not know English, so they cannot even experience the entire range of services on the web or desktop software.
However, after correspondence with Fontanhas and Andrija Vučinić from the team that took on the localization of Wordpress, it was agreed that, regardless of the lack of ISO standards, the use of the free me_ME code should be started.
"We hope that the institutions will request that code from the official ISO body," said Milošević.
